Music has been a part of the worship of monks for hundreds of years. Chant is usually the preferred genre. But Cesar Bonizzi, an Italian monk, prefers his music a bit more extreme. He fronts the metal band Fratello Metal (Metal Brother).
Fifteen years ago, he went to a Metallica concert and was blown away by the energy of the music. Chant was a bit too mellow for Brother Bonizzi apparently. Last summer, Fratello Metal played the Gods of Metal festival in Italy along with the likes of Slayer, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest.
Enjoy the clip. And notice that although it looks like Bonizzi is making the “sign of the horns” with his hand, he is actually making the sign for love. Very clever!
Seriously, what do you think? Is this guy for real?
